Tire Pressure Costing You at the Gas Pump

Getting your tires properly inflated can save you money at the pump. On the flipside, low tire pressure can cause your vehicle to use 10% more fuel. 

Tire Pressure Study

A study was conducted by Energy.gov on a 2009 Toyota Corolla. 

All four tires were tested at:

1. Recommended tire pressure
2. 75% pressure
3. 50% pressure

They noted that fuel economy decreases by about 2-3% when all four wheels are inflated to 75% of their recommended pressure. The fuel consumption of vehicles with tires inflated at 50% of the recommended pressure was increased by 5–10%.
