Matt Grant Earns GM’s Highest Technician Achievement

We’re proud to congratulate Knoepfler Chevrolet Fleet & Commercial Service Manager Matt Grant on becoming a GM World Class Technician — the highest level of achievement a GM technician can earn.

What Does It Take to Become a GM World Class Technician?

To reach World Class status, a mechanical technician must earn eight of nine GM Master Technician Certifications, along with the accompanying ASE certifications. That includes advanced certification in electrical/electronics, engine repair, heating and air conditioning, brakes, steering and suspension, drivetrain, transmission, and engine or diesel engine performance.

It’s not just online training, either. GM’s Master Technician assessments are performance-based. Technicians must demonstrate their knowledge and diagnostic skills by solving real vehicle faults during timed exercises.

What Does a World Class Technician Mean for You?

Vehicles are complicated, and sometimes the problem isn’t obvious. This level of training means Matt has demonstrated advanced knowledge and diagnostic skills across multiple major vehicle systems.

That kind of expertise matters when a problem is complicated, unusual or difficult to diagnose.

Matt is now one of two World Class Technicians at Knoepfler Chevrolet, joining Dave Stevens.

Having two team members who have reached GM’s highest level of technician achievement is something we’re incredibly proud of.
