Chevy Silverado 1500 2.7L vs. 5.3L

2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTD in the Desert

If you’re looking for a powerful new pickup truck in the South Sioux City area, you can’t go wrong with the legendary Chevy Silverado! This iconic work truck is an American mainstay, boasting powerhouse performance specs, impressive capabilities, and next-generation features inside and out. When picking out a Chevy Silverado, you can choose from four available engines–a 5.3L V8, a 6.2L V8, a 3.0L turbo-diesel, and a new 2.0L turbo high-output option. All four are excellent choices, but today we’re going to be comparing the standard 5.3L V8 with the new available 2.0L turbo high-output engine. Which one best suits your unique driving needs? Find out in the guide below with the team at Knoepfler Chevrolet Co.!

Chevy Silverado 2.7 Turbo vs. 5.3 Performance Specs

As with anything, there are trade-offs to consider when comparing the 2.7 turbo engine with the 5.3 on the Silverado. The standard 5.3L engine offers more horsepower, while the 2.7L offers more torque and a higher rate of 3,000 RPM. This makes it a more efficient choice than the standard engine, though not quite as powerful. Both engines have identical towing capacities, while the standard 5.3L engine can handle a bit more payload.

They also have similar fuel efficiency, with the 2.7L turbo getting more mileage in the city than the 5.3L V8. An advantage of the 2.7L turbo engine is active thermal management, which keeps the motor (and by extension, the Silverado) liquid-cooled while you’re towing cargo around North Sioux City and beyond. Here are the full specs for the Chevy Silverado 2.7 Turbo vs. 5.3 engines:

Chevy Silverado 3.5L V8 Engine

  • 355 horsepower
  • 383 lb-ft of torque
  • 9,500 pounds of towing
  • 2,285 pounds of payload
  • 16 mpg city / 20 mpg highway

Chevy Silverado 2.7L Turbo High-Output Engine

  • 310 horsepower
  • 430 lb-ft of torque
  • 9,500 pounds of towing
  • 2,300 pounds of payload
  • 17 mpg city / 20 mpg highway
